Crochet adventures

A stack of crochet
It's the end of half term here in Cornwall and I haven't done alot of sewing this week but have been hooking (is that a real term?!) away in any spare moments.

Supplies- Stylecraft Double knit Special
The yarn supply has been topped up

WIP for my girl.
We even managed to convert two more fans and are very jealous to hear that they have a shop selling Stylecraft double knit Special 5 minutes walk from their house!
I have been back over to Attic24 on a regular basis, and decided to try the triple layer flower this morning. After a few false starts I have managed one..

WIP Cartwheels

WIP- cartwheels
I managed to do a few more cartwheels yesterday (the fabric type, have never been able to do the others properly!) and I think I've got enough for the quilt top now.

As mentioned before, the tutorial I followed for these is by Amanda Jean over at Crazy Mom Quilts.

WIP- cartwheels
They have been alot of fun to make and one of those projects, a bit like the baskets, in that you can make one or two little cartwheels and feel like you have achieved something.
The shirts have worked well for the background.
The cartwheels are a combination of plains and Rowan fabrics (Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Malby I think).
The strip down the side is going to be along the top and bottom eventually.

WIP- cartwheels
Getting the cartwheels the right way round was a bit of a challenge for my limited brain at times, but as usual, I like that it's not quite perfect!

Misty morning and a Jolly Molly

It was a very misty morning here today but the sun is now out.

A misty morning

I have been working on a Jolly Molly for a present.
It's another one of the things I like making because we all need one but they can be very boring, a bit like the peg bags.
They are another good way to use up leftover bits of fabric too.
I am attenpting to put together a tutorial but that may take a bit longer so for now, here it is..

and the other side..

The other WIP I have is the ripple blanket mentioned here, which is growing steadily.
WIP- ripple blanket
There is something about crocheting a blanket on cold evenings that I really enjoy.

The hellebores and snowdrops are flowering well despite the wet weather..

Hellebore and crochet
And my yarn supply is going down more quickly than expected.....
as my daughter has caught the bug..

A present of tulips

I love flowers of all sorts as you may have gathered but there is something about tulips and daffodils at this time of year that is particularly great.
We grow various daffodils in the garden but I have never had much success with tulips.
I think maybe I don't plant them deep enough and I have had better luck in pots.
Neither the tulips or daffodils are out in the garden yet, just some snow drops and the hellebores that I showed you here.
Yesterday I had a visitor.
Not only did she bring lunch with her (homemade soup), she also arrived with a huge bunch of these..
How lucky am I?!
Thank you.

Ripples of recovery.

I haven't done any sewing this week due to a bad back but managed to sit upright and ripple!
A basket of crochet supplies
I have made a couple of ripple blankets in the past but it was a year or two ago, so I needed a refresher and found a great tutorial here, by Lucy at Attic 24.
And I have really enjoyed looking at her blog too which is now added to my favourites - bonus.

I'm afraid it's not wool but acrylic this time but the colours are bright and cheerful.
The ripple pattern that Lucy uses is slightly different to the one I used last time, with slightly gentler ripples, and I really like it. I also like the way she edges her blanket but I haven't got to that bit yet.
A new ripple blanket in the making
Hopefully back to the sewing soon.
Have a good weekend.
